About Arbury Community Church

"They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." (Acts 2:42-47)

This passage has been an inspiration to us since the our church began as a group of Christians meeting in a home. We have tried to be a family and to keep the organisation of our church as simple as possible. We are an independent church but our beliefs are in line with major Christian denominations. We enjoy an informal and modern expression of our faith. Our church is led by a small group of elders.

What we believe

We believe that God made everything in the universe including us. As a loving Father he is concerned about our everyday lives and our eternal destiny.

God became a man in Jesus Christ and he showed us what the Father is like and the best way to live. When he died on the cross he carried our sins and enabled us to be saved. He rose from the dead and will return to earth in the future as judge.

When Jesus returned to his Father, he sent the Holy Spirit to give us power to live the way God wants, to know God's will and to serve him and other people. We can receive the Holy Spirit today.

The Bible is God's word and contains all we need to know about God, the way of salvation and how to live our lives. It is our guide in matters of faith.

God made us to be his children and his friends. Unfortunately we have all drifted away from God because of our sins and this is why the mission of Jesus was necessary. The good news is that as we apologise to God and put our trust in Jesus, we can know forgiveness, restoration of our relationship with God and the promise of eternal life.

Immersion in water (baptism) is the sign that we have received God's gift and shows our resolve to serve him throughout our lives. We enjoy worshipping God, praying and spending time together.
